What, exactly, is this Thesis Theme blog all about? I’ll tell you. This blog is meant to be several things: a testimonial, an experiment in online marketing, and, most importantly, a benefit to you, the serious WordPress blogger.

If you want to have your own blog, or want to improve the blog you’ve got, you’ll probably end up in the market for a “theme” to make your blog distinctive, easier to maintain, more search engine friendly, etc.  Lots of bloggers use WordPress, which is a great blogging tool.  Then they look for a theme to go with it.  That’s what I did. Perhaps that’s what you are doing now.

When I was looking for a blog theme I came across the Thesis Theme, which was created by Chris Pearson, who has designed several noteworthy WordPress themes.  I liked what I saw and decided to buy it and use it for my blog. In fact, I liked it so much, I created this site as well.

After I bought the Thesis Theme I saw that Chris had set up an affiliate program so that users of the theme could make a few bucks sending referrals to the DIY Themes website.  Now, this isn’t something I normally do, but I figured what the heck.

I really like this theme, I like the support community, I like the direction that Chris is taking it, so why shouldn’t I let people know about it?  And if they happen to like it and buy it, that’ll be all it takes to turn this hobby into my own personal ATM.

Even if I don’t make any money from this site, I’ve enjoyed the chance to set up another blog using the Thesis Theme for WordPress.  The web host I use allows unlimited domains, so my only expense to get this started was the purchase of the domain name, which was less than $10.  I figured that was a pretty inexpensive way to dip my toe into the internet marketing waters.

Thesis also makes it easy to experiment, with so many options available right within the WordPress Admin interface. Sure, you can dive into the PHP source code if you want, and you can customize the CSS, but you don’t have to. You can ease into that. In short, I’m having fun (in a “mad scientist” kind of way) and I hope you have fun too.

Wow, that has to be the cheesiest headline I’ve ever written!  Seriously, though, looking for blog tools can be a pain in the butt.  I did my homework and decided that the combination of WordPress and the Thesis Theme is the best way to get going with a blog if you care at all about the look of your blog, how easy it will be to customize and maintain, and how high you will rank in the search engines.

And I’m happy with my decision.  So if you want to save yourself a lot of time and hassle, get yourself a copy of the Thesis Theme.  I think you will be happy with your decision, too.
